
If you want to be a great sword-fighter, you're gonna need a falchion, skull-dagger, or cleaver. Additionally, the dubloon costs for major items made it hard for non-elite, non-paying members to stand a chance. Since labor was so hard to come by, most people just made alts to do it for them, and paid shit wages. On the dubloon oceans, the economic market was killed by labor badges. All those high-ranking puzzle players? Probably a solid half of them are cheaters, the other half are the legit best players and their alts. Interest started to wane and there was nothing new to bring back old players. If you're not retaining new players, you're gonna have a bad time.ĭevelopment halt. This further killed off pillaging, and isn't that accessible to new players. It also killed off a lot of the pillaging mentality. It because such a massive wealth funnel, that most people's funding came from a couple good poker players who would hoover the economies POE to fund their blockade defenses/attacks. Additionally, since actually holding an island wasn't good for much besides prestige, there isn't much point to actually fighting for them unless you say you want to hold an island. Super-mega alliances kept things pretty much stagnant except for the occasional rivalry between massive egos, or trouble maker flags like Notorious Fandango or Oceanus Expeditus. The upper level of the games stagnated due to little to no competitions between Flags. Subscription oceans started dying when they introduced the doubloon oceans.
